Through fun yet challenging physical and mental activities, Scouting encourages personal growth by teaching youth how to set goals and achieve them with determination.
Discovery is at the heart of Scouting. Whether it’s a campout, derby car race, or hike on the trail, we believe every adventure helps us uncover a little more about ourselves.
Scouting opens up new friendships, creating a close sense of trust, reliance and mentorship.
Troop 325 is a Boy Scout program, with ages ranging from 11-17. Looking for a Cub Scout (K-4th grades) Troop? Contact us for referral info!
During twice-monthly youth-led troop meetings, Scouts engage in Scout skill challenges, learning & planning activities, team building opportunities, and games. Meetings typically last about 90 minutes. Merit Badges are generally earned during outside events like summer camps, Jamborees, and special hosted events.
Absolutely! Youth can join Scouts BSA with no prior Scouting experience (i.e., Cub Scouts) as long as they meet the age requirements.
While many BSA Troops successfully fundraise through product sales. Troop 325 is funded primarily through three activities: our annual spring Duck Race & Picnic (held at the Elma Town Park), our yearly Holiday Wreath & Tree Sales, and through can/bottle drives. All are fun activities that the benefit both the Troop and our surrounding community. Plus, they are a ton of fun!
Scout safety is absolutely paramount and never taken lightly. Programs are designed to follow a strict set of rules and policies that can be found in the Guide to Safe Scouting. You can read more HERE
ABSOLUTELY! Scouts learn skills that simply are not available from any single source. Your child will learn invaluable life skills such as First Aid, Orienteering, Cooking, Woodcraft, Swimming, and Boating. But Scouting offers so much more. Studies show that Boy Scouts have a sense of Leadership, Resourcefulness, Preparedness, Organization, Belonging, and Dedication that carries into adulthood. Read more HERE.
You bet! Troop 325 is a very active outdoor Troop. Scouts enjoy regular campouts in tents, lean-to structures and cabins located in BSA facilities and state parks sometimes outside of New York. Adult parents/guardians who wish to accompany the Troop on outings must undergo mandatory BSA-sanctioned protection and safety trainings.
